Elsevier: Freedom Collection with over 2250 e-journals and Open Access agreement starting with 2021

Elsevier: Freedom Collection with over 2250 e-journals and Open Access agreement from 2021 onwards

The University Library was able to conclude a new contract with Elsevier for the  years 2021-2023. With the Freedom Collection (approx. 2250 titles), it offers  access to almost the entire e-journal portfolio of the publisher.

In addition, 17 Cell Press journals are now available at BOKU.

The newly negotiated Open Access agreement with the publisher Elsevier is particularly pleasing: free publishing in hybrid journals (term 2021-2023) and gold journals (term 2021) for BOKU scientists.

Here further information on OA publishing can be found.

Access to the e-resources of UB Bodenkultur

The University Library provides a variety of electronic resources with the possibility of access for BOKU members independent of time and place (HAN access)

In addition, some publishers and providers are currently making some of their content available free of charge due to the corona crisis:

  • The publishing house Elsevier is currently (probably until mid-June 2020) making 256 titles from the textbook sector available free of charge.
Direct access is possible HERE. The title list is updated continuously.
  • JOVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) currently (until 15.06.2020) allows free access to the “STEM education video library“.

For questions please contact ub.support(at)boku.ac.at.

Open Access at ACS

The Main Library offers BOKU scientists the opportunity to publish Open Access in American Chemical Society (ACS) hybrid journals at no additional cost. Open Access fees (Article Processing Charges, APC) are charged centrally at the library. The agreement also includes online reading access to the entire ACS journal collection covering the period 2020-2022.

More information is available at OA-Publishing at ACS.

BOKU:LITsearch replaces the old library catalogue

Due to the implementation of the new library system ALMA the search-platform „BOKU:LITsearch“ will replace the hitherto existing online-catalogue.

Access to BOKU:LITsearch
Literature search is generally possible without login.
Access to licenced electronic resources (e-books, e-journals) is provided on BOKU-campus without login.
Outside BOKU-campus BOKU staff members and BOKU students have access to licenced content after login with their BOKU account.

Library user account
To log into the library user account BOKU staff members and BOKU students use their BOKU account.
For other users login is provided with the barcode-number of their library card and password.
After login the following services can be used:
– Library account (renewals, reservations)
– Overview of borrowing options for items
– Interlibrary loan

Literature search
The search-platform „BOKU:LITsearch“ provides access to all literature and media offered by the BOKU-library and further resources. A general search produces an extensive title list which can be refined to „Bibliothekskatalog“ (library catalogue) with the facet located at the left bar.

-> Access to BOKU:LITsearch

Due to the recent implementation of the new library system there may well be data corrections and other adjustments to the system.
