During the Christmas holidays the library has these opening hours.
Due to the implementation of the new library system ALMA the search-platform „BOKU:LITsearch“ will replace the hitherto existing online-catalogue.
Access to BOKU:LITsearch
Literature search is generally possible without login.
Access to licenced electronic resources (e-books, e-journals) is provided on BOKU-campus without login.
Outside BOKU-campus BOKU staff members and BOKU students have access to licenced content after login with their BOKU account.
Library user account
To log into the library user account BOKU staff members and BOKU students use their BOKU account.
For other users login is provided with the barcode-number of their library card and password.
After login the following services can be used:
– Library account (renewals, reservations)
– Overview of borrowing options for items
– Interlibrary loan
The search-platform „BOKU:LITsearch“ provides access to all literature and media offered by the BOKU-library and further resources. A general search produces an extensive title list which can be refined to „Bibliothekskatalog“ (library catalogue) with the facet located at the left bar.
Due to the recent implementation of the new library system there may well be data corrections and other adjustments to the system.
At the beginning of the semester the library offers guided tours regularly. During these tours we present our various services and look forward to answering any remaining questions.
Minimum amount of attendees: 3 persons
Duration: approximately 30 min

The Library of the Institute of Social Ecology is the newest BOKU library. The focus of its collection is on social ecology and environmental history. It is located in Schottenfeldgasse 29/5, 1070 Vienna and is attached to the Special Library SOWIRE. More information is available here (in German).
The Main Library offers BOKU scientists the opportunity to publish Open Access in Wiley journals at no extra cost. Open access fees (APCs) are charged centrally at the library. The agreement also includes online reading access to over 1,500 scientific journals and covers the period 2018-2020.
In 2018 the BOKU library will change, together with parts of the Austrian library network, its library system to Alma. More specific information will be released when available.
These massive changes require a lot of work. As the library has to shoulder this in addition to its normal work, no book transfers from institutional libraries can be accepted and incorporated into the holdings of the main library.
